FFL: Week 1 Matchups

Every week, we preview all the upcoming games from a fantasy perspective. To help you with lineup decisions regarding most non-superstar players, we give you matchups to exploit, key starting choices and advice on who to leave on your bench.

Arizona at New York Giants: Kurt Warner returns to the Meadowlands with something to prove, and he should challenge the Giants' secondary with WR Larry Fitzgerald, whose height and strength could present matchup problems for CB Will Allen. Rookie RB J.J. Arrington could rip off a sizable run or two, but he might have trouble at times getting away from MLB Antonio Pierce. Don't expect an outstanding game from Arrington. An improving Arizona defense could pressure Eli Manning often, and Tiki Barber will have to work hard to get his yards against a solid Cardinals defensive line.
Start and Smile: Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin. Watch and Worry: Eli Manning.

Chicago at Washington: Points could be difficult to come by here, as CB Shawn Springs keeps a close eye on WR Muhsin Muhammad, and rookie Kyle Orton could struggle to locate open receivers. Solid blocking by C Olin Kreutz and LT John Tait could pave the way for decent numbers by Thomas Jones. Chicago CBs Charles Tillman and Jerry Azumah won't get burned by WRs David Patten and Santana Moss, and good secondary coverage will allow Chicago to keep a close watch on Clinton Portis, who could post good, but not great numbers. Start and Smile: Washington defense/special teams. Watch and Worry: Muhsin Muhammad, David Patten, Santana Moss.
