Former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Oronde Gadsden was signing autographs back in 1999, when a fan first mentioned fantasy football to him. Gadsden, who caught 19 TD passes in his first three NFL seasons from 1998-2000, was flattered to learn he was on someone's fantasy roster once he found out what the hobby was all about.

"The guy told me he had me on his fantasy team, and I said I was glad to help him out," Gadsden said. "Then I was surprised to learn my neighbors and friends played fantasy football, too. I began to see it mentioned in magazines and on TV."

At 6-foot-2, 215 pounds, Gadsden was a big target with exceptional leaping ability who became a Dolphins fan favorite for his timely, acrobatic grabs. Today, Gadsden is still heavily involved in the South Florida sports scene. He is a co-owner and CEO of the Miami Morays of the National Indoor Football League, and he appears regularly as an analyst on ESPN Radio 1400.
