FFL: Week 9 Matchups

Every week, we preview all of the upcoming games from a fantasy perspective. To help you with lineup decisions regarding most non-superstar players, we give you matchups to exploit, key starting choices and advice on who to leave on your bench.

Atlanta at Miami: The Dolphins will be focused on containing the running game, and MLB Zach Thomas might be able to keep Warrick Dunn in check early, but the running back could still bust loose for a long gain or two later in the game. Michael Vick will also roll out and throw often, mainly to TE Alge Crumpler and WR Brian Finneran. Miami will respond by attacking a weak Atlanta run defense, and Ronnie Brown could deliver another quality outing. Gus Frerotte will use play-action passing effectively, and should help TE Randy McMichael reemerge as a major presence in the offense. Start and Smile: Ronnie Brown, Randy McMichael. Watch and Worry: Atlanta defense/special teams.

Carolina at Tampa Bay: The Panthers might stack their fronts against Carnell Williams, in an effort to force Chris Simms into adverse passing situations. Simms might turn the ball over more than once, but he should still find Joey Galloway often when he does have time to throw. Tampa Bay CB Ronde Barber might need some safety help against WR Steve Smith, but Jake Delhomme could respond by throwing often to secondary targets, including TE Michael Gaines. Shelton Quarles might limit the production of Stephen Davis, and the Tampa Bay MLB will be ready to take him on in goal-line situations, where Davis has been doing his best work. Start and Smile: Joey Galloway. Watch and Worry: Carnell Williams, Stephen Davis.
