FFL: IDP Outlook

There seems be an ever-growing interest in fantasy football leagues that include individual defensive players. Such formats allow fantasy owners to draft and use defensive linemen, linebackers and defensive backs.

Points are usually awarded for sacks, interceptions and fumble recoveries, and often solo tackles. Some leagues also use passes defensed as a category. Using individual defenders is sometimes considered a more realistic representation of owning a franchise. Instead of using a generic team defense, you must field a lineup for both sides of the ball. Drafting becomes more challenging and more players are used. The amount of defenders used often varies, anywhere from two to possibly seven in certain leagues.
