At his Wednesday news conference -- the very same one in which he unexpectedly called out Tiger Woods -- Masters chairman Billy Payne gushed over Augusta National's brand-new practice facility. "A decade's worth of planning and execution has resulted in the opening of our new practice area," Payne said. "The design attempts to provide players the ability to experience the very shots that make our course so special and challenging."
The key phrase there was "attempts." Because the truth is, there's nothing Payne or anyone could do to truly simulate the shots that players will be hitting Thursday.
