Tiger Woods officially an underdog at PGA

August, 11, 2010

History was made Sunday afternoon as Tiger Woods tumbled at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in Akron, Ohio.

Sometime during that ill-fated round, as Woods duffed drives and putts like a muni player, his reign officially ended. I don't mean his status as the top-ranked golfer in the world -- for now, at least. I mean his streak of being favored in major championships, which, according to every oddsmaker I've spoken to, goes back to the first major he played after dominating at the Masters in 1997.

"At least the first time since the turn of the century," said Jeff Sherman, the Las Vegas Hilton's golf odds expert.
