Midseason coaching changes a good bet

November, 30, 2010

I am renaming this day in the blog Super Tuesday for the duration of the football season. This will be the spot for stats, links and stories related to the Hilton Supercontest. Any thoughts on what might be useful that isn't here, let me know. But largely, we'll see who won each week, who's winning for the season and learn about the trends making the contest go.

Bettors love interim coaches. There's no doubt.

A few weeks ago, when Jason Garrett took over the Dallas Cowboys, the team traveled to the New Meadowlands to play the Giants. Big Blue was on a five-game win streak that included a 41-35 drubbing of the Boys on Monday Night Football just two weeks earlier. And yet, with the Boys reeling and playing on the road, wiseguys lined up to take Dallas and the points. So what happened? Dallas won by nearly two touchdowns. "Sharps will favor teams that change coaches in the middle of the season," Dave Tuley of viewfromvegas.com told me last week.
