Watch out for the Cincinnati Bearcats

March, 9, 2011

Look at the Cincinnati Bearcats. They are way down there at the bottom of the AP Top 25 with 202 points. They don't even make the ESPN poll. In fact, West Virginia, UCLA and Villanova all received more votes in my fair company's ranking. But in the Sweat Barometer, cobbled together by me and Sal Selvaggio of, the Bearcats are as good as it gets.

On the strength of two wins over Georgetown and a win over Louisville, plus scratching out a W versus scrappy Marquette, the Bearcats are now 14-11 against the spread (including 7-5 on the road) and have an SB number of 4.18 against an average spread of minus-4.78. If you haven't been following along all season, that means the Bearcats are covering by more than four points a game.
