Faced with a tiring team that was outplayed for two consecutive games and is on the verge of losing a series that New Jersey had firmly controlled, Devils coach Pat Burns reached desperately to take some pressure of his players after losing 2-1 to Ottawa on Wednesday night.
"The pressure all of a sudden is going to fall on them. They're going back home and they have to win at home," Burns told reporters after Game 6. "We have to go in there and play our little easy game and see what happens."
True, Ottawa was the favorite and earned the home-ice advantage for Friday's deciding Game 7 by capturing the Presidents' Trophy as the league's top team during the regular season. But the Senators have shown more heart in coming back to win two consecutive games, seized momentum and put all the pressure on the Devils.
