Edwards, Thomas hoping to stick

Almost every year there are names that aren't called on draft day that illicit shocked responses. But in almost all cases, the players sign with a team as an unrestricted free agent, and some have a chance to make an impact. One of those players is Atlanta Falcon receiver Terrence Edwards. The former Georgia Bulldog is the SEC's all-time leading receiver in yardage, and second all-time in receptions and touchdowns. With qualifications like that, you'd expect him to be taken ahead of at least one of the 37 receivers drafted into the league, but his name wasn't called.
Part of the reason was because some scouts labeled him soft. Also, the 40 (4.54) he ran in front of scouts wasn't fast enough to make up for his slight frame and so-so-hands. Edwards still maintains that time is .14 slower than his usual, and he was slowed only by an injured foot he suffered in the Senior Bowl.
Terrence Edwards could bolster the Falcons receiving corps.
