  • Was Byung-Hyun Kim just too different to keep his job in Arizona? Jerry Brown of the East Valley Tribune says that some of Kim's work habits soured the team on keeping him around.

  • That Tug McGraw was able to hold a news conference Thursday was probably a miracle in itself. After having a brain tumor removed two months ago, the former Mets and Phillies reliever reports that he is doing well but makes no secret of the fact that he still has a long way to go, writes Bill Finely of the New York Times.

  • No National League outfield has ever boasted three 30-homer men. Two teams have a shot at that feat this year. The Braves trio of Andruw and Chipper Jones and Gary Sheffield might have a shot. Chipper has to pick up the pace somewhat. The Reds also have a chance, although it would require Ken Griffey, Jr. to start laying the bat on the ball and more playing time for Adam Dunn in the outfield, reports Dave O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
