Would you like to see baseball's amateur draft given
the same kind of coverage that is given that of the
NFL? Joe Henderson of the Tampa Tribune sure wouldn't!
In fact, he thinks the NFL should take a page from
baseball and tone the selection process way down.
And what of the talk of a global draft? It was a hot
topic during this past off-season, but, as Gary Klein
of the Los Angeles Times writes, the talk hasn't gone
very far since.
Joe Posnanski of the Kansas City Star reminds us that
all that glitters is not gold when it comes to the
amateur draft. He recalls a legendary prep slugger
named Earl Cunningham on whom the Royals used a
first-round pick in 1989. Earl who?
