Boston Bruins: Sometime soon, if the Bruins can get the schedules sorted out, Mike Sullivan will be named Boston's next head coach. The former head coach of the Bruins' AHL affiliate in Providence, R.I., is liked by the club and has one key qualification: He'll come cheaply to get his first NHL coaching job.

Tampa Bay Lightning: Lightning GM Jay Feaster denies that he is trying to trade Nikolai Khabibulin, but a source told the Tampa Tribune that the All-Star goalie is being shopped as part of a payroll-cutting move by the team. Khabibulin will make $4.4 million next season and the Lightning has a $6.5 million option for 2004-05.

Detroit Red Wings: Red Wings center Igor Larionov has rejected Detroit's one-year, $1 million offer, likely meaning he will become an unrestricted free agent July 1. At 42, Larionov probably wouldn't get many offers around the league, but his value to Detroit increases significantly if the Red Wings can't re-sign center Sergei Fedorov.
