Washington Wizards: Not only is Jerry Stackhouse not going to opt out of his contract with the Wizards, he's going to extend it as soon as possible. "I'm ecstatic about it," said Stackhouse in the Washington Post. "They stepped up in a situation where there really was no market [in free agency]. They wanted me to be the forefront and focus of the team. This is a great situation to be in, a situation I've really never felt in my career." Washington owner Abe Polin has also made it clear he intends on hiring Milwaukee GM Ernie Grunfeld just as soon as the Bucks release him from the final year of his contract.

Los Angeles Lakers: Amid the clamor of the Kobe Bryant free agency report, Laker head coach Phil Jackson announced that he will not only finish out the final year of his contract with the franchise, but sign on for two more. The deal isn't expected to be completed until late summer since Jackson will soon depart for Montana and owner Jerry Buss is in Europe, but the L.A. Daily News is reporting that this is the first step in keeping the trio of Shaq O'Neal, Bryant and Jackson together long into the future.
