While Dominik Hasek's return from a one-year retirement renews talk of another
run at the Stanley Cup in Detroit, a goalie who chose to play in Detroit a year
ago to be a part of such a run is being kicked out while the Red Wings try to
find him a new home.
Curtis Joseph isn't your average homeless dog, however. CuJo, who last summer
signed a three-year, $24 million contract with the Red Wings, will have a little
say in the matter because he has a no-trade clause.
"In terms of waiving his rights in the contract ... the conditions and terms
would have to be to his satisfaction," Joseph's agent, Don Meehan told The
Detroit News. "Originally we were stunned, but so was Detroit. From that point,
I think it really became a feeling of disappointment (for Joseph). He and his
family made a commitment to Detroit."
