American League
Detroit Tigers: Adam Bernero has found the secret of avoiding 20 losses: get traded to a team that will use him in long relief. The Tiger starter was 1-12 when he was shipped to Colorado for Ben Petrick this weekend. The catcher/outfielder has spent more time in Triple A than in the majors this season. Gene Guidi of the Detroit Free Press has the story.

Seattle Mariners: The easing of Jeff Cirillo out of his third base job has begun, writes Steve Kelley of the Seattle Times. Willie Bloomquist had a big day yesterday as Cirillo sat with a bum shoulder. Nothing Cirillo -- a hard working individual -- has tried so far can help him shake the malaise he has encountered since becoming a Mariner in 2002, and now it appears they have run out of patience with his lack of productivity.
