  • Are we witnessing a Barry Bonds transformation before our very eyes? Is he changing from sullen-but-talented to mythical as we speak? His walk-off home runs with his dying father in attendance against Atlanta two weeks ago are surely the stuff of myth. Thomas Boswell of the Washington Post discusses the motivations behind what has made Bonds the player and person he is today.

  • Who got the best of the Jeff Conine trade? Why the Orioles, of course, opines Joe Christensen of the Baltimore Sun. The O's believe that pitching prospects Denny Bautista and Don Levinski are swag pirated from the Marlins.

  • On the other hand, Christensen's colleague, Laura Vecsey, feels the team will miss Conine's veteran presence for the rest of this season. However, she continues, this might be a small price to pay to help the team add to its ever-increasing stockpile of young arms.
