Emergence of Ellis could force Jets' hand
Shaun Ellis is exhibiting the power and quickness that he displayed at the University of Tennessee.

As bad as the Jets have been this season, they have had a bright spot -- the play of the defensive line. On Monday, coach Herman Edwards said this was the best the line had played in his three years in New York, a claim that is corroborated by the fact the Jets are tied for the league lead with 19 sacks. And 17 of those takedowns have come from the line. And of those 17, seven have come at the hands of Shaun Ellis.
Yes, that Shaun Ellis.
After a successful rookie season, Ellis purposely gained weight in order to switch from end to play the three-technique tackle spot that Warren Sapp plays so well in Tampa. But after bulking up to 315 pounds, his play was uninspiring and the experiment was scrapped.
