It's naturally a big deal when a French-Canadian rookie standout plays his first NHL game in Montreal, but Boston center Patrice Bergeron wasn't as emotional as many expected Tuesday night at the Bell Centre.
Bergeron's third goal of the season stood up as the winner as the Bruins blanked the Canadiens 2-0 with about 30 members of the rookie's family in the crowd. Even before joining Original Six rival Boston, Bergeron hated the Canadiens while growing up in a Quebec City suburb.
"When I was young, I didn't really cheer for Montreal -- I was a Nordiques fan -- so to score against them was a lot of fun for me," Bergeron told The Associated Press after the game.
