Dallas Mavericks: You can never blame coach Don Nelson for being too conventional. Now, he's telling his all-star point guard to stop passing the ball so much. "If I wanted him to be John Stockton and get 15 assists a night, he could do that," Nelson said in the Dallas Morning News. "But right now, he's trying to pass too much. He's getting in too deep [into the paint], and that bogs us down a little. The bottom line is I need him to get us 16 or 17 points for us to be as good as we can be."

Miami Heat: With fingers crossed, the Heat are hoping this Friday will finally be the day they get to see the starting five they've been waiting for in Dwyane Wade, Eddie Jones, Caron Butler, Lamar Odom and Brian Grant. "I'm just letting it happen," Butler said in the Palm Beach Post. "I don't want to get too pysched up and something else happen." Four of those five starters have been injured and missed games during the first week of NBA action.
