VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Inferiority complexes just seem to be part of the environment here on Canada's West Coast, melding in with the Douglas firs and growing wild under ample rainfall.
There's the province's constant rivalry with more-populated Ontario and Quebec because the two Eastern provinces hold the country's power structure, even though the folks in Lotusland have it better in "Beautiful British Columbia."
That East vs. West rivalry lies beneath the bigger inferiorty complex that's part of the Canadian identity as the neighbor to the United States, which wraps around most hockey fans' quest for their sport to receive wider acceptance in the States.
Trevor Linden believes the Canucks are among the elite.
