Detroit Tigers: Tom Gage of the Detroit News says the Tigers are "very much in the running" for the services of free agent Miguel Tejada. For his part, Tejada hopes to have a firm deal or something close to one by the end of the baseball meetings this weekend. Gage reports that the Mariners have offered him a three-year $24 million deal but that the Orioles are still in the hunt as well. Would the Tigers better that offer? You would have to think so, if they gave Fernando Vina $3 million a year, the sky would have to be the limit for Tejada. They are also in pursuit of Reggie "Team-a-Year" Sanders.

Kansas City Royals: On a day when the Royals announced they had landed Benito Santiago, Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star reports they are also interested in adding Tony Graffanino. The former White Sox player would be brought in to handle infield utility duties. The Devil Rays and Red Sox are also rumored to want him.
