American League

Baltimore Orioles: When Sidney Ponson was traded to the Giants by Baltimore, he had turned down a three-year, $21 million deal and figured he would never be back. Now, that very same deal is on the table again and the two sides are very close to orchestrating Ponson's return to Baltimore. Joe Christensen of the Sun writes the parties are coming ever closer to making Ponson an Oriole once again.

Detroit Tigers: Last week I wrote that going to the Tigers would make sense for Ivan Rodriguez at this stage of his career. Today, both Gene Guidi of the Detroit Free Press and Tom Gage of the Detroit News are pushing for such a deal from the opposite side: that it would give the team a big boost. Guidi writes that Rodriguez is showing a "strong" interest in the Tigers, a team that had their entreaties to Miguel Tejada turned aside. He writes that Pudge would bring the team some much-needed credibility while Gage suggests that simply making some big noise about going after him would do the team a world of good with their fans.
