Detroit Tigers: The pool of big-name free agents is getting smaller by the day. The biggest fish still splashing around is Ivan Rodriguez and it appears as though he will be landing on somebody's dock any day now. Moving away from piscatorial imagery, Pudge's agent, Scott Boras, announced yesterday that great headway was made with a possible suitor. Who that suitor is was not specified, but it could well be the Tigers, a club with some money to spend and a strong need for a superstar presence on their roster and in their city and one that has publicly shown a good deal of interest in Rodriguez.

Seattle Mariners: David Locke of the Post-Intelligencer does not seem too impressed with the trio of free agents signed by the Marines this offseason. Raul Ibanez, Scott Spiezio and Rich Aurilia have all had flashes of excellence in their careers, but they do not compare to the bigger names available on the market this year. Locke wryly suggests the Mariners believe the three will take off in the way that Bret Boone did for them earlier.
