Detroit Tigers: Here's a good sign: Ivan Rodriguez was in Detroit yesterday to talk with the Tigers. They were also graced with the presence of his agent, Scott Boras, so you know things are getting pretty serious. Gene Guidi of the Detroit Free Press quotes an Associated Press story that indicated the Cubs were still in the running. The source for that information was Boras. Meanwhile, Tom Gage of the Detroit News writes that the word on the Detroit street is "Pudge." Anytime a team can stir this kind of interest in the wake of a season in which they lost 119 games, it's a good thing. The Tigers might find that landing Rodriguez will be worth the price in publicity alone.

Seattle Mariners: In spite of all the new faces coming to the Mariners, there's something missing, writes Art Thiel of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Of the nine new Mariners, none of them are on the level of the big fish landed by other teams this offseason.
