Just a few months ago the free-agent market was set to be loaded with talented quarterbacks. Any team with an itch and some cap space could have chosen between Kurt Warner, Jeff Garcia, Mark Brunell, Tim Couch, or possibly Drew Bledsoe. But things have changed drastically since then and now the only one who's sure to be available is Brunell.

Jeff Garcia
Jeff Garcia saved his job with his play down the stretch.
With Marc Bulger's struggles in his first full season as a starter, the Rams aren't too eager to either trade or release Warner. The former NFL and Super Bowl MVP now feels that he has a good chance to regain his role as a starter and wants to stay in St. Louis. The Rams organization feels the same way.

Garcia was on the hot seat in San Francisco, but he finished the season as the league's hottest quarterback, tossing 10 touchdowns and only one interception. Though he doesn't possess the great arm coach Dennis Erickson likes, he threw the deep ball much better when he finally got healthy at season's end. Now the Niners would like to re-structure Garcia's contract and keep him by the bay.
