American League

Baltimore Orioles: New first baseman Rafael Palmeiro is 37 years old and has never played in a World Series. After attending a couple of 2003 Series games at Pro Player Stadium last year, he really began to feel he was missing out on something. "The emotion in the stadium for those games was incredible. It is something that I would like to do before I'm through," he told Craig Barnes of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Unfortunately, he has signed on with a team that has a lot of talent stacked above it. He is on a one-year contract and may have to seek his World Series dreams elsewhere beyond 2003.

Boston Red Sox: Jason Giambi was having some fun yesterday, stirring the boiling pot of the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry a little bit more by suggesting New York should go after Pedro Martinez and Nomar Garciaparra at the end of the season when the two Red Sox stars become free agents. George King of the New York Post has the tale.
