If you follow the NFL and the date October 14 held no special meaning for
you, you're not alone. Even the most hard-boiled football fan would have
trouble remembering that date as last year's trade deadline.
In baseball and basketball, trades are more commonplace. Aside from the occasional draft day trade, football rarely sees
significant trade action at any time during the season -- an oddity for a
league that once saw two owners trade franchises.
A fact that's not lost on Dallas Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells. Last year
Tuna lamented about the league's general inactivity on the trade front.
