Taylor primed for monster season
Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio wants to establish a dominant running game and needs Fred Taylor to be his workhorse.
Taylor rushed for 1,314 yards, which is fine production, but short of his lofty goal. Last season, Taylor again set 2,000 yards as a goal -- health permitting. He started every game for the second consecutive year, and racked up 1,572 yards..
New coach Jack Del Rio hasn't discussed his specific expectations for Taylor this offseason, but there is no doubt that he wants to establish a dominant running game and needs Taylor to be his workhorse. In his first season in Jacksonville it took a while for Del Rio's philosophy to take root. But in the second half of the season Taylor carried the ball almost 25 times a game and gained 989 yards. With some of the team's offseason moves, Taylor could continue that torrid pace.
