Boston Red Sox: Don't expect to see Nomar Garciaparra anytime soon. While it was initially thought that he would return by now and that Trot Nixon would be out until June, it now appears that both won't be seen for another month yet. Garciaparra is nursing a damaged right Achilles tendon and has had a setback concerning his quadriceps as well. "It's going to heal when it's going to heal," manager Terry Francona told David Heuschkel of the Hartford Courant . "We just have to use common sense so we don't push it back any further."

New York Yankees: There is something especially wasteful about losing a first baseman to a torn labrum, but that is the case with Travis Lee. The Yankee reserve got word yesterday that he will probably miss the rest of the 2004 season when a tear was revealed upon examination. Jim Baumbach of Newsday reports that the damage took place in spring training when he was making throws from the outfield.
