Suddenly the Lakers look ... dominant

Last week, conventional wisdom said the NBA was in the process of delivering the longest, most boring playoff season ever. What a difference a week makes.

Last-second buzzer beaters in San Antonio and Detroit changed the entire dynamic of this year's playoffs. Suddenly the boring moniker has vanished and been replaced with something that has to bring a smile to David Stern's face -- May Madness.

The Lakers stunned the reigning-champion Spurs by winning an unbelievable four straight games after the Spurs previously had won an incredible 17 in a row. After hearing of their pending demise for weeks, the Lakers suddenly look like the team to beat again. It's amazing what a Derek Fisher jumper with .4 seconds on the clock can do for a team's reputation.
