Siena lands first junior commit

January, 6, 2010
Junior Robert Poole (Haddonfield, N.J./Paul VI), a talented 6-foot-4 shooting guard committed Tuesday night to a MAAC school.

After tossing in a season-high 27 points in a bitter loss to Bishop Eustace (Pennsauken), Poole called Siena coach Fran McCaffery and pledged to the Saints, according to several sources.

Poole is the first Siena commit from the Class of 2011 and cannot sign his binding national letter of intent until November. This year, the Saints have signed two players -- PF Melsahn Basabe (Glen Cove, N.Y./St.Mark's) and SF Trenity Burdine (Reading, Pa./Reading) and are still looking to sign a point guard during the late period.

Poole is averaging 18.2 points this season and as a sophomore he was a second team, all-non public, all-state pick. He chose Siena over Minnesota and had offers from New Hampshire, Monmouth, Delaware, Rider, Penn State, Fairfield, Hartford and Penn.
