Spartans making key adjustments

January, 7, 2011

This season, Insider will feature the writing of five current NCAA basketball players, contributing their thoughts on issues facing their conferences. In this installment, Michigan State's Draymond Green talks about adjustments heading into conference season, as well as Ohio State's early dominance.

So far the biggest adjustment we've made has been the lineup change from last week: I'm moving back to the power forward spot and Keith Appling is a starter now. When I go back to the four the offense kind of runs through me which can be a struggle for some teams if their four man isn't as versatile. It stretches them out and if they go with someone smaller on me then I just go back down low. I was playing more three earlier, so I was hardly ever posting up. I was out on the perimeter and hardly ever inside. It was probably a plus for some teams because with our offense, you can dribble drive a little but we weren't really exploiting mismatches.
