Shaquille Thomas picks Cincinnati

Four-star Shaquille Thomas (Montclair, N.J., Nia Prep), a 6-foot-6 swingman, gave his commitment to Cincinnati head coach Mick Cronin on Friday, selecting the Bearcats over Seton Hall and UTEP.

"The biggest reason I picked Cincinatti was because of the coaching staff," Thomas said. "I built a good relationship with the coaching staff in early July when they started recruiting me. When I went on my visit it was great and I just liked the whole environment."

Thomas comes from good stock being the nephew of longtime NBA player Tim Thomas and younger brother of Essence Carter, who stars for the New York Liberty of the WNBA. The youngster of the family, Thomas made a name for himself early in his high school career as his combination of size, skill, and athleticism had many in the tri-state area projecting similar stardom.
