PGs who can elevate to elite level

April, 22, 2011
With a handful of major spring events already in the books, I thought it would be a great time to discuss some Class of 2012 observations from the play at this early stage of the spring/summer evaluation project.

Point guards will be worth their weight in gold
This is an area of concern that I have been writing about regarding the 2011 and 2012 recruiting classes. I again blogged about the dearth of high-level players at the point guard position in February, after watching what is available, it is obvious that high-major programs in desperate need at the point will have do an outstanding job in the evaluation process to find a player who can help them win at the elite level.

We have been focused on finding, analyzing, scrutinizing and debating about point guards who have a great chance at elevating their recruitment and helping an elite-level team win. Look for point guards like Javan Felix (New Orleans, La./Saint Augustine), Mike Gesell (Sioux City, Neb./South Sioux City), Charles Mann (McDonough, Ga./Union Grove), Jordan Roper (Columbia, S.C./Irmo), Michael Carey (Baytown, Texas/Trent Internationale) and Phil Forte (Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound) to find their way onto the war room walls of high-major programs. If teams at the highest level can mine through the evaluation process and find a diamond in the rough, it could have a huge impact on their future.
