Maryland sneaks past Belmont 79-77 and advances to play LSU in the next round. It was a heartbreaking way to lose for the Bruins, who had possession with a chance to take the lead before turning the ball over trying to get the ball into Dylan Windler. As he walked off the floor, Maryland coach Mark Turgeon gave a loud, "Wooo!" and a fist pump. Bruno Fernando, who had a double-double, screamed, "Let's go! Let's go!" at the Maryland fans.

Maryland and Belmont have gone back and forth throughout the course of the second half, each going on runs to take the lead. Without question the biggest star in the game has been Belmont senior forward Dylan Windler, who has 33 points and 10 rebounds. That's the most ever scored on Maryland in a NCAA tournament game.

Maryland opened the second half on a 10-0 run, blitzing Belmont with a series of fast-paced 3-pointers and layups. It was the best the Terps looked at any point in the game, and they will need to show the same type of energy and intensity to hold Belmont off the rest of the way.

Kentucky coach John Calipari called Belmont the "most dangerous team in the country" and Maryland found out why in the first half of their first-round NCAA tournament game. Belmont leads 40-34 and had more success from 3. Though the Bruins are known for their offense, they did a number on Maryland leading scorer Anthony Cowan, who shot just 1-of-9 (including 0-of-6) from 3.

Kevin McClain scored 29 points and led the decisive second-half run as Belmont got its first NCAA tournament win, pulling away to an 81-70 victory on Tuesday and ending Temple coach Fran Dunphy's career in the First Four.

Belmont's Rick Byrd, who got his 800th career win earlier this year, is closing in on his first victory in the NCAA Tournament. Nearly 70 years of head coaching experience between Byrd and Temple coach Fran Dunphy on the floor tonight.

Belmont freshman big man Nick Muszynski, who missed the OVC title game with a left ankle injury, is clearly still hurting tonight but he's contributing pretty good minutes with 6 points, 3 rebounds and a block in the first half.
