When Frank Martin left the Kansas State Wildcats for South Carolina, he left a fairly full cupboard in Manhattan. Enter Bruce Weber, who, building on the success he had at Southern Illinois and Illinois, used those ingredients to make an even better cake. The Wildcats enjoyed one of the best seasons in school history, but can they parlay that into a trip to Atlanta?
ESPN Insider has your answers, as Joe Lunardi has enlisted a team of Bracketologists to compile advanced metrics, key scouting intel and best- and worst-case tournament scenarios for all 68 teams, in order to help you make smart picks in your bracket. Plus, as Lunardi fills out his bracket, he'll give you his prediction on how each team will fare.
It's quite an advantage for Kansas State to start the tournament in Kansas City. That alone could be enough to get past the Boise State-La Salle winner and a root-canal third-round versus Wisconsin. Can the Wildcats then go to L.A. and do what they could not in Gonzaga's home state? I don't think beating the Zags is in the cards for Kansas State, but you have to admire what Bruce Webber has accomplished in the Little Apple.
Best wins: Florida, at Oklahoma
Worst losses: Kansas, at Iowa State
