At 22, Wright has a mature approach

PHILADELPHIA – David Wright is living proof that a calendar year is plenty of time to graduate from boy next door to man about town.

For five weeks last summer, the New York Mets assigned Wright to Norfolk, Va. – Wright's hometown – and the franchise prodigy hit .298 with eight homers against Triple-A pitching. Wright also lived at home, a 10-minute commute from Harbor Park, and spent his off hours playing spirited games of ping-pong, pool and Texas hold 'em with his three teenage brothers, Stephen, Matthew and Daniel.
