Once again, there's a lot of speculation about Barry Bonds and when he'll be activated. The Giants slugger hasn't played yet this season because of three operations on his right knee. One report speculated that Bonds would come off the disabled list Tuesday. Well, that didn't happen.
I have no idea where some of these people get their information. I sat and talked with Barry after his workout Monday in Los Angeles, where he has been rehabbing his knee (he has a home in L.A.). We sat there for about 20 minutes, one-on-one, and I asked him plenty of questions. Playing Tuesday didn't even enter the conversation.
Besides, why would he play his first game in Los Angeles, a hostile environment where Dodgers fans hate all Giants players -- and especially Barry Bonds? That wouldn't have made any sense (the Giants are playing a three-game series in L.A. that ends today). If you were coming back after a long hiatus, wouldn't you want to return in front of your home fans? The Giants begin an 11-game home stand Thursday.
With a lot of these speculative reports, there's no logic to them.
