Braves shift from farm-first philosophy

With the exception of Matt Wieters, there isn't a prospect whose 2009 debut has been as anticipated as Tommy Hanson's. The hard-throwing righty is scheduled to make his first major league start Sunday for Atlanta after posting a 90-17 strikeout-walk ratio in 66 innings for Triple-A Gwinnett. He is another feather in the cap of the Braves' player-development machine that produced stars such as Tom Glavine, John Smoltz, Chipper Jones and, more recently, Brian McCann.
