New York Mets: First base
Mets like Ike in minors: We've discussed how a sizzling spring by Ike Davis might tempt the Mets to install the 2008 first-round pick as their starting first baseman.
Davis has done his part, hitting .524 with a pair of homers in 21 at-bats, but manager Jerry Manuel has tempered the enthusiasm regarding an Opening Day roster spot for Davis.
"Some unforeseen things would have to happen in my opinion for that to happen," Manuel told the New York Daily News.
That means first base belongs to Daniel Murphy, who was 1-for-12 before collecting a pair of hits Wednesday against the Braves.
