2021-22 MLB free agency, offseason trade news and hot stove updates

How long will MLB's lockout last? (0:40)

Jeff Passan breaks down how long MLB's lockout could last. (0:40)

The 2021 World Series is in the books, with the Atlanta Braves triumphing over the Houston Astros in six games. It was followed by one of the wildest free agency periods we've seen in recent history, with more than $1.7 billion committed to players in a frenzied few days at the end of November. But that excitement was short-lived: On Dec. 2, after players and owners couldn't come to agreement on a new CBA, MLB locked out the players for the first time since 1990.

It's all on hold for now, but at some point, there will again be trades to be made, extensions to consider, and free-agency decisions charting the courses of players and teams alike. Some of the biggest names in the sport will be wearing different jerseys once the end of March 2022 rolls around -- once there is a new CBA and baseball gets back to business.

What does each team need to do to win a World Series? How do the available free agents stack up? Which teams are about to make blockbuster trades? What can we expect from the negotiations between the owners and players? We've got all the latest news and analysis right here.
