Teams that need big offseasons

Whether or not they end their season in a celebratory dog pile after their final game, 2013 represented a dramatic reversal of fortune for the Boston Red Sox. Two years after one of the biggest late-season collapses in baseball history and one season after finishing with the team's worst record since 1960, Boston won 97 games and earned home-field advantage all the way through the World Series.

Boston accomplished this by aggressively improving the team and making tough decisions. Three of 2012's playoff teams that missed the 2013 postseason find themselves in a similar position -- they have money to spend, but also deep fundamental problems that will require a creative offseason to solve. Let's take a look at the three teams that most need to be aggressive this winter.
