Yankees 3B prospect Miguel Andújar, the young, power-hitting infielder who had four home runs in one week earlier this spring, was sent down today. He was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. It's a sign that Brandon Drury, who the club traded for at the start of the spring, will be the Opening Day 3B. Andújar also today was named the 2017 Kevin Lawn Award winner as the Yankees' "Minor League Player of the Year." Along with Andújar, OF prospect Estevan Florian was reassigned to minor-league camp.

Machado brushes aside Judge's recruiting pitch

Aaron Judge suggested Orioles shortstop Manny Machado would look nice in Yankee pinstripes, earning him a warning on tampering. Machado says it was no big deal, though: 'Everyone always jokes' about those things.

Jordan Montgomery will get the start in the Yankees' home opener four days later. Here's the complete rotation: Severino, Masahiro Tanaka, CC Sabathia, Sonny Gray and Montgomery.

Judge in trouble for recruiting Machado (1:56)

Coley Harvey ESPN Staff Writer

Regarding Aaron Judge's recruiting pitch earlier today to the Orioles' Manny Machado (telling him "he'd look good in pinstripes"), MLB issued to ESPN tonight the same statement it provided the New York Daily News earlier: "We have been in contact with the Yankees. They communicated to us that Mr. Judge's off the cuff comments were not appropriate and not authorized by the club. They will speak to him to make sure that this does not happen again."

Judge pitches Yanks to Machado; MLB unhappy

Aaron Judge already has one new superstar teammate in Giancarlo Stanton. Now he's attempting to woo Orioles shortstop and future free agent Manny Machado to the Yankees, to the chagrin of Major League Baseball.

The Yankees made another roster move this morning, releasing 1B/OF Adam Lind. The left-handed hitter had been signed earlier in spring training.

The Yankees today optioned 2B Gleyber Torres and C Kyle Higashioka to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Both are being reassigned to minor-league camp. For Torres, Neil Walker's signing yesterday was a precursor to the roster move.

David Schoenfield ESPN Senior Writer

While it's a little disappointing that signing Neil Walker pushes back the timetable on Gleyber Torres, it makes total sense for the Yankees for one year and a low salary. Importantly, the switch-hitting Walker is much better from the left side, so he'll help add some production from that side to help balance out all the right-handed power in the lineup.

The Yankees make official the signing of 2B Neil Walker to a one-year major-league deal. To make room for him on the 40-man roster, OF Jake Cave was designated for assignment.

President Donald Trump: "I watched our Yankees, and the Yankees were good, they were as tough as anybody, but you guys were just a little bit tougher. Game 7 of the World Series was one of the greatest baseball games anybody as ever seen."

Tristan H. Cockcroft ESPN Senior Writer

Gleyber Torres moved down from SS28 to SS32, though that's not as large a downgrade as it might seem. I didn't think he'd make the Opening Day roster anyway and Walker has had injury issues. Torres should see MLB time at some point in 2018, this just means there's no reason to rush him.

Tristan H. Cockcroft ESPN Senior Writer

Though the move didn't vault him into my top 300 rankings, Neil Walker's signing with the Yankees placed him just outside it, making him a viable late-round middle-infield fallback. He's got the combination of contact and pop — his 17 degree launch angle from 2016-17 was 23rd among 225 hitters with 500-plus balls in play — to be an ideal fit for Yankee Stadium.

Derek Jeter greets Yankees batting practice pitcher and coaching assistant Danilo Valiente. The Cuban coach has developed a close relationship with many of the Yankees top hitters throughout the years for being a specialist throwing batting practice. He was particularly close to Jeter, who recognized Valiente by having him introduced at Yankee Stadium during his final home opener. Valiente is also Aaron Judge's and Gary Sanchez's regular batting practice pitcher, and pitched to them at the Home Run Derby. He's also started doing cage work with Giancarlo Stanton.
