ESPN Stats and Information

The Rays were shut out for the fifth time in eight games on Saturday, scoring an average of one run per game over that stretch. The Elias Sports Bureau notes that this is the first time that a team has been shut out five times in an eight-game span in a single season since the 2012 Dodgers from June 25th to July 2nd. It's the first time this has happened in the American League since the 1978 Athletics from June 10th to 17th.

Red Sox beat Rays 8-2 for 8th straight win

Eduardo Nunez chased Jake Odorizzi when he lined a single off the pitcher's foot, starting a five-run fifth inning for the Red Sox in an 8-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday night that extended Boston's winning streak to a season-high eight.

David Schoenfield ESPN Senior Writer

That's eight straight wins for the Red Sox as Rick Porcello throws five dominant innings before giving up two home runs in the sixth. The Rays played a sloppy game in defeat with two errors, a couple of other misplays in the field, two wild pitches, a passed ball, a hit batter and two intentional walks during Boston's five-run fifth. Good win, ugly loss.
