Rookie Watch: Early disappointments

Let me write this right off the bat: Disappointment, as it relates to how rookies begin a season, can be a fleeting thing. Just like success, the productivity of a player can change fast, thanks to adjustments the player makes and the way his team handles his play. Opponents have a say in this as well.

Nevertheless, rookies get paid every week and are expected to play to a certain level that is unique for each guy. To this point, there are five players who are simply not performing to the level that was expected of them when they were drafted. However, with a little more focus, activity or purpose in their play, they can change their performance arc. And for one player, mixing in some maturity and discipline would be a big help, too.
