On Tuesday, Stephen A. Smith said on his radio show that should LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony both opt in for the final year of their respective contracts this coming offseason, there is a "95 percent possibility" that the two superstars will play on the same team in 2015-16. Once again, Knicks fans have been piqued by the flickering potential of a superstar finding his way to the Big Apple.

But Phil Jackson, who is well versed in the history of New York basketball, and more important, the lessons offered by that history, should be wary of pinning his hopes on such a tandem.
