Friedell: Lakers better win it all right now (1:41)

Baxter Holmes ESPN Senior Writer

I asked Lakers GM Rob Pelinka on a conference call with reporters today if he has any response or comment to the characterization of him or about specific anecdotes pertaining to him in ESPN's May 28 story on the organization. His response: “Again, most of my time here is really -- I think what we owe to the fans here is that our time here is not responding to the critics or the criticism but [that] my time here has to be focused on building the Lakers team. If I focus time on responding to individual criticism, any minute or five minutes of time [that] I spend on that is a minute or five minutes of time away from building the team and putting this team in a position to win championships. So that's been my focus. [It] has just been on the work and really not responding to the critics.”
