Offseason Moves

Denver's fourth straight first-round defeat caused ownership to reconsider their current model. The Nuggets were way over the luxury tax last season but didn't have the results to back it up, and as result spent the offseason in cost-cutting mode. One other "acquisition" for the Nuggets is the return of center Nene, who will take over as the starter.

Drafted Sonny Weems. As step one in its luxury-tax dodging strategy, Denver sent its first-round pick to Charlotte for a future pick and took Weems, a potential defensive stopper, in the second round. He may get chances at minutes since the team needs a wing defender.
