The Wizards had a huge opportunity to reshape the franchise but passed on it, opting instead to stick things out with the Jamison-Butler-Arenas core. Crazier things have worked, but it sure seemed like a sign that they're perfectly content to go 43-39 and lose in the first round of the playoffs for a few more years. Extending Jordan's contract through 2010 only added to that impression.
